Housing Minister Keith Brown urges homeowners to make one resolution this New Year to call the Home Energy Scotland Hotline to maximise savings on heating their homes.
Households can save from between £175 per year by installing loft insulation up to £280 per year if cavity wall insulation is carried out too.

Mr Brown said:
"We have invested significantly in helping people save money and be as energy efficient as possible. At the same time we are working with consumer groups and the energy companies to help customers struggling with their energy bills.
"At this time of the year money is always tight, so I am urging every householders who haven't contacted the Home Energy Scotland Hotline to do so and learn if they too can save money on their heating bills.
"On average you can save £175 a year by installing loft insulation. That money could be put to better use, including membership of Edinburgh Zoo for a family of five for a year, a console and game to get the whole family fit for 2012, or take the family out for a meal and a trip to the pantomime.
"However you choose to spend it, it is money better off in your pocket than wasted energy seeping out through un-insulated walls and loft spaces across Scotland."
